Pros: Sleeping here was a truly human and extraordinary adventure, with a very warm and welcoming family who were always available for us. They even took us to watch a magnificent sunset while we enjoyed tea there, and also gave us excellent advice for our stay in Jordan. A thousand thanks to the whole family — we can only highly recommend staying here.

Respectability, love, curiosity, immersing in the host society and discovery. Finally togetherness.

Pros: I had no expectations except I wanted to immerse myself into the local culture and to my delight I found people to be like my own people even some resembled to my own. I come from Armenian background so food and customs were similar in spite of the fact sheikh Sulleiman's family are devout Muslims and I come from Christian background. But having long talks with all of them I found we understood and respected each other's customs. I went there alone and I came back having left a family behind. I shall carry them all in my heart wherever I go. Thank you dear family for your hospitality and acceptance of me and my eccentricity! Perhaps not too eccentric in Jordan but I sure am in England! Shokran! :)

Cons: There isn't much I didn't like. As I said above the people, the food, the sunshine with the mountain breeze even though plastic has become the biggest pollution on the planet their food is clean and even though all go to work family life and family values are so alive. A sane society unlike the Western world where family life is deteriorating. There is a strong family value here which I loved and basically nurtured by it. The Jordanians as a rule are a hospitable people and will share all that they have with their guests. You don't see this in the West. Of course this is generalisation there are wonderful people wherever you go. We went picnicking on the mountains at sunset watching the sun setting behind the Dead Sea and the chain mountains to the West. I went to El Karak castle one day with the instruction of the father and on my way back I noticed he had sent me a message to see if I was Ok. The last day before going to the airport the whole family came to bid me farewell we stopped by in Madaba and visited the museum and St. John's church. This to please me. To be honest I was touched by their kindness and love. And one night we sat up watching \

Handy, very friendly outpost north of Kerak

Pros: Very obliging hosts, large room, good food and excellent value for money.

Cons: Some may find earplugs useful for fairly-active village dogs at night.
