Amazing, peaceful, beautiful - hosted by Umm Qais's best guide
Pros: We had the privilege the stay in this lovely guest house - perfectly located in a tranquil area, within walking distance from the Gadara sight. It is a well-equiped, nicely decorated, charming small house with a beautiful garden overlooking the village and the hills around. The breakfast was also delicious. But no experience in Umm Qais is complete without Ahmad's highly professional guidance - he is well-known to be the best guide in the area, and there is a reason for his reputation. In a very reasonable arrangement, we have not only managed to learn the formal history of the area but also gained insights from someone who actually used to live in the site and later also participated in the preservation efforts. Our stay and the short morning tour with Ahmad in the site was truly a highlight of our entire trip in Jordan.

Spotlessly clean rooms in a house a short walk from the ruins. Awesome breakfast
Pros: Immaculately ckean. Great attention to detail. Lots of tourist info. Drinking water provided to save plastic. Air con. Amazing breakfast. Nice linen
Cons: The village and therefore this accommodation is a little away from the ruins....maybe 15-20 min walk A few things you may not get told by the host ... like the Wi-Fi password is on the LED of the small router in the lounge and make sure all windows are closed at dusk to stop mosquitos getting in....otherwise you'll have to hunt them down throughout the house!

More than a simple one-night stay!
Pros: Philodemus is a small house with a beautiful garden. The bedroom we slept in is big, confortable and absolutely clean. The house includes also two bathrooms (both outside the rooms), a kitchen and a nice, bright living room, where abundant, traditional breakfast is served. The neighbourhood, made mainly of two floor-houses, is quiet, characterized by the presence of many plants and olive trees. We had only a one-night stay but Ahmad managed to make it a special part of our travelling in Jordan. In fact, he proposed us to have dinner with a local family, which revealed itself as a great experience both culinary and cultural. Do not refrain from Ahmad's help: beyond being a touristic guide, he is a fantastic host, full of resources and suggestions.
Cons: The only aspect to improve is the possibility to pay by other means than cash payment. Credit card payment would be definitely a plus.

Cosy guesthouse, great host, tasty breakfast - what can you ask more?
Pros: The guesthouse of Ahmad is cosy, simple and very clean. The breakfast was delicous and prepared with lots of love. Ahmad is super helpful, knows everything about the region and can give good advice about what to do and where to hike. I really enjoyed my stay in Beit Philodemus and can really recommend it.
